Stand Out with Eldenwa Designs

APiF: Please introduce your business and your designs.

Ellen Wagner: I am the head designer and creator of Eldenwa Designs. I specialize in handcrafted fabric accessories made from recycled jersey cotton for for men and woman. I like to think of my work as FUNctional Artistic statement pieces.

APiF: If your label would be a person, what kind of person would it be?

Ellen: Eclectic, Artistic, out-going, attention grabber. Someone who isn't shy and loves to stand out.

APiF: What inspires you?

Ellen: The city (NYC) inspires me everyday. The diversity in fashion, culture, and lifestyle is amazing. I love to see how everyone works with what they got and how they put their own spin on things.

APiF: Fashion Finds: What is your favorite piece in your closet or of your collection and why?

Ellen: I am pretty simple when it comes to my wardrobe. I love basics. Things that I can go from day to night in just by switching up my accessories. My favorite piece in my wardrobe is my Eldenwa black long fringe fabric necklace. It is such a statement and it can easily transform a simple maxi, tank top or tee and give it serious fashion flavor. And if it is worn over all black it adds a layer of texture that is so sexy and sophisticated.

APiF: Name a label you would like to collaborate with and why?

Ellen: I would love to work with Anthropolgie or Free People. I think the aesthetic of both brands match well with the look and feel of my brand and would expand the reach of Eldenwa in creating a more diverse customer. I have always said that I am a Hippie at heart and I feel like these brands are Hippie chic - which I think is awesome.

APiF: Any tips for new designers/start-ups in the fashion industry?

Ellen: Promote. Promote. Promote!! Build your web presence and always go grass roots. Its great for people to be able to put a face with a name, it brings your brand to life. I cannot express how important it is to get your name out there. Designers are a dime a dozen. It is up to you to make yourself memorable.
